Do I need the original installer?
No. Forge captures from running Windows systems, so you can package applications when the installer is missing, incomplete or no longer usable.
Is the trial really free, with no card?
Yes. The trial gives you the full product for 7 days, with 25 captures: the GUI, PowerShell module, CLI and MCP server. You sign up with your work email. There is no credit card and no sales call. Trial captures are for evaluation, not production use.
Is the training free even if I never buy?
Yes. The course, the final exam and the certificate are free for every account, whether or not you buy Forge. The certificate lasts 12 months, and renewing it is free: you answer the exam questions again, without repeating the lessons.
Which Windows versions can I capture from?
Any version from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 11. The capture agent is a single portable executable with no installer or runtime prerequisites, so it runs on the machine where the application already lives. Building and signing the MSIX then happens on Windows 10 (version 1709 or later) or Windows 11.
Does App Attach work with Windows 365 or Intune?
No. Windows 365 and Intune do not support App Attach, so Cloud PCs and Intune-managed devices get MSIX or IntuneWin from the same capture. App Attach is the delivery format for Azure Virtual Desktop and other session-host platforms.
What happens when the trial ends?
Nothing is charged, because we never took a card. Forge needs a licence key to keep capturing and packaging: a full licence is £895 per admin user per year plus VAT, by card, on Azure Marketplace or through a partner.
